Nokia XpressMusic 5610 comes to T-Mobile

nokia-5610-t-mobile-hands-on-02-sm.jpg

As expected, T-Mobile has now launched the Nokia XpressMusic 5610 slider to compliment the 5310 candybar launched back in May. Though the software and the phone’s raison d’être (music, that is) both mirror the slimmer 5310, the new slider turns up the heat a bit with a more capable 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash and something Nokia calls the “music slider,” a sliding bar directly below the display that gives the user lightning-quick access to the music player and radio. Other features include a microSD slot (with 1GB bundled in the box), stereo Bluetooth, 2.2-inch QVGA display, and a standard issue quadband EDGE radio sans 3G — though we’d hardly call that a feature. It’s available starting today in white with silver trim or black with red trim for $99 on a two-year contract.

Nokia unleashes Supernova series: meet the 7210, 7310, 7510, and 7610

7610_front_red_closed_angle.jpg

Though they’ve already been well documented (heck, they’re already on sale in some parts of the world), Nokia’s just now getting around to making its foursome of Supernovas official. The new line reps mid-range fashion (think L’Amour, but not over the top) and comes in your choice of two candybars, a flip, or a slider as the 7210, 7310, 7510, or 7610, respectively. The 7210 features a tri-band GSM radio plus EDGE, a 2 megapixel camera, and an FM radio;

£10,000 diamond-clad Nokia N95 borders on gaudy

7-7-08-diamond-n95.jpg

To be fair, Continental Mobiles diamond-encrusted Nokia N95 is a real bargain at £10,000 ($19,813) when compared to Amosu’s £12,000 alternative, but seriously, real richies should be holding off for the evolutionary N96, anyway. For those with enough cash to care, this particular handset / status symbol packs a Sterling silver front-panel stacked with “4.42ct of brilliant-cut, VS1 quality, color G-H, naturally mined diamonds.” If you’re craving one, you’d better get your order in now, as it takes the British craftspeople crazy enough to sell these things three full weeks to whip one up.

Nokia E66 mini-review

e66-review-1.jpg

Hate to break it to you, but there’s little more to tell about the E66 that we didn’t already cover with the E71. It’s basically the exact same hardware and screen in a portrait, sliding form factor, which loses the QWERTY for a numeric keypad. That said, we wanted to go over the specific quality of those differences, and touch on a few things we missed with the E71 review.

Warner Music joins Nokia’s Comes With Music download program

03_nokia_comes_with_music_lowres.jpg

The latest label following BMG to join Nokia’s Comes With Music service bandwagon is none other than Warner Music Group. The third-largest label joins the powerful cadre of labels on the service, which as of this posting lacks only EMI for a full major label lineup. As a reminder, the service allows you to download music for 12 months and then keep it as long as you own the device or transfer to a PC. Now, of course, we just need to wait for the devices to roll out.

Nokia 6205 hands-on

nokia-6205hands1.jpg

As you might’ve guessed, there isn’t a whole lot going on here, but we snapped a few pictures of Nokia’s new 6205 for Verizon just in case. The 6205 seems to be a well built phone, but that’s about it. Rest assured, the Batman sound effects are cheesy, and the trailer inclusion is pointless — Batman wouldn’t be caught dead at a superhero party rocking this thing. What would Tony Stark think of him? Oh, and that thicker model is the one with the an extended battery, which could certainly come in handy with the standard 4 hour talk time this has. (more…)

Nokia N78 for North America hands-on

nokia-n78-hands-1.jpg

We just got our hands on Nokia’s sexy new N78, which it’s bringing to us previously Nokia-starved North Americans in full-fledged, unlocked 3.5G. The phone boasts Nokia’s new maps 2.0 app, along with photo geotagging, and of course all those N-series trimmings like WiFi and dual cameras. There’s no N-Gage support yet, but a firmware update is forthcoming. Unfortunately for us, we had trouble getting geotagging or even online photo uploads in general to work at all — we didn’t stoop so low as to look at the manual, but Nokia certainly has some interface kinks to work out here. Maps 2.0 is all it’s cracked up to be, and the phone tracked our walk down the block with accuracy bordering on creepiness. The keypad is a bit of a departure for Nokia, with ridges instead of full keys, but it didn’t take us long to get comfortable with.

Nokia promises to let N-Gage users transfer games

3-3-08-n-gage.jpg

Well, that didnt take long. Just as the mini-brouhaha over N-Gage games being tied to handsets was starting to percolate, Nokia has now come out and said that users will be able to take their games with them to a new handset after all, eventually. According to Nokia communications manager Oskar Södergren, some “miscommunication” on Nokia’s part is apparently to blame for users being left up in the air on the matter, (more…)

T-Mobile gets Nokia XpressMusic 5310

5310red_front_combo.jpg

T-Mobiles no stranger to Nokia XpressMusic series of funky little music phones, and the tradition continues today with the introduction of the 5310. This colorful candybar has some pretty solid street cred as a viable music player, too, with a microSD slot, svelte 9.9mm body and — most importantly — a real 3.5mm jack for the headphones of your choosing. You’ve also got a 2 megapixel camera and a QVGA display to play with, both of which’ll surely come in handy for entertainment while you’re waiting for data to pull down over the EDGE radio (sorry, T-Mobile, we couldn’t help ourselves). It’ll run $49.99 on contract starting May 28 in black with your choice of purple, orange, or red accents.

Mug shots of Verizon Nokia 6205

verizon-nokia-6205-phonearena.jpg

Whats blue, silver, and boring all over? If you guessed the Nokia 6205, well, you clearly knew something about the phone you were holding back to us — but nonetheless, go ahead and give yourself a gold star and a pat on the back for a job well done. The low-end flip for Verizon, which we’d mentioned not long ago, has finally been exposed in all its entry-level glory; don’t get us wrong, we’re delighted that Espoo seems to be back in the thick of the CDMA hunt, but we think we’re going to hold out for something just a little more visually stimulating than this. Nokia 6212 with Bluetooth NFC: Let the pairing revolution begin

6212_classic_01_lowres.jpg

This is the day we have been waiting for. While the 3G Nokia 6212 classic doesn’t look like much, what it lacks in style is more than made up by the genius of Bluetooth-enabled Near Field Communication. If you remember the video we showed you way back in March of 2007, the combo makes device pairing and transferring content like photos, video, music, calendar data, contacts, etc. as easy a touching the phone to a NFC-enabled picture frame, cellphone, speaker, or headset like Nokia’s own NFC-variant of the BH-210. It will also work with NFC payment systems. According to Jeremy Belostock, (more…)

Nokia’s touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?

nokia-tube-symbian-freak.jpg

Like detective work? Good, this ones for you. Thats the supposed first picture of Nokia Tube which we have enhanced a bit to see all the detail. According to Symbian-Freak, the device code-named “Tube” will be Nokia’s first touch S60 device but will not be a flagship phone. Another higher spec’d phone will ship “shortly after.” The display is said to be between 3- and 3.5-inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a camera (with another up front based on the picture) which they say is “way better” than the iPhone’s but not on par with the existing N-series shooters. The phone is said to ride atop quad-band GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA radios with built-in Bluetooth, WiFi, uPnP support and a stylus. Something you’ll apparently need judging by that skinny scroll bar. (more…)
