This one’s no secret, Moto leaked the ROKR E8 way back in September, but the company is finally getting official with the musicphone at CES tonight. The phone is free of physical keys, with a completely smooth face and vibrating haptics to denote key “presses.” There’s a nav wheel in the middle, which might not be the revolution Motorola is touting it as, but sure looks nice. The handset has 3.5mm heaphone jack, 2GB of flash storage, a microSD slot, FM radio and a microUSB plug. The phone is Linux-based, and Moto is quite proud of its audio fidelity, but we suppose the proof is in the listening. No launch or price info just yet.

Sony Ericsson banged out three new sets today, and one that immediately caught our eye with its Ericsson T39-esque — with a dash of Z700 — styled flip. The W350i features a 1.3 megapixel shooter, FM Radio, Bluetooth, 14 MB of internal memory plus a 512 MB Memory Stick Micro, and ships in either Electric black, Ice blue, Hypnotic black, or Graphic white — we’ll let you guess which is which. We can expect a W350a variant, which will include 850 MHz GSM in place of the 900 MHz in the W350i version, so the odds of this landing on our shores looks good. The music controls parked outside the flip are a pretty sweet idea, we’re liking what they did with this design and hope that it continues to impress once we get some hands-on time. Of course, if we were forced to nitpick, we might whisper something like: where’s the 3G fellas? Handsets are expected to hit retail channels in Q2 2008 though no word on pricing.

Sony Ericsson appears to have taken a page clear out of Nokia’s book with the Z555, a fashionable flip (subject to personal opinions, of course) that looks like a hinged homage to Espoo’s Prism series. The innards aren’t much to talk about — the GSM comes in one of two triband flavors depending on your region, and there’s nary a hint of 3G to be found — but the draw here is something Sony Ericsson’s calling Gesutre Control, which allows you to control a handful of phone functions (ringtone mute and alarm snooze are specifically called out) by waving your hand in close proximity to the handset. You also get a hidden external OLED display, 1.3 megapixel cam, stereo Bluetooth, and pretty much all the colorful rectangles you can handle. Look for both regional versions of the phone to launch by the end of this quarter.

Though Sony Ericsson already has a couple phones out with support for North American 3G, you’re feasting your eyes on the first and only Walkman branded handset to feature the sacred 850 and 1900MHz bands of HSDPA action. The W760 slider features quadband EDGE plus triband HSDPA, integrated GPS, FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera, Memory Stick expansion, stereo speakers, and support for the “SensMe” technology recent handsets from the company have been rocking, allowing users to simply shake the phone to control music playback. No word on pricing, but it should launch in the second quarter of the year.

Sony’s finally getting really, really serious about the Memory Stick. The company is launching a hefty 16GB version of its loved / hated MS Duo. There’s not much else. It’s a Memory Stick Duo. It’s 16GB. It will be available in March for $300. Enjoy.
