While there is little dispute among the computer users and IT professionals regarding the impact of disk fragmentation on system performance, they don’t seem to be much cheer-up about any remedial solution. No realistic tool exists which could inhibit fragmentation before it wrecks havoc on a storage device. Modern disks fragment and that is a bitter reality of life, and the more they fragment, the more your computer works hard to accomplish a task. No file system on any disk is resistant to the fragmentation.
