Nokia N76 - Slim Beauty

Nokia N76.jpgA new N Series smartphone has been released by Nokia. It is the first slim mobile phone in the N Series, being a good looking clamshell, only 13.7 millimeter thick and with impressive features, even at it’s small fits. The Nokia N76 has a high resolution and quality QVGA display, a 3.5 millimeter standard audio jack, but we currently don’t know if it’s directly on the phone or within an adapter, UMTS, a 2 megapixel camera and 20 MB of internal memory. The smartphone will be priced at $510.

Microsoft Developing a Zune Phone

Microsoft is developing a new version of its Zune portable music and media player that doubles as a cell phone — in direct competition to Apple’s recently announced iPhone — according to CrunchGear.com.

“Our tipsters inform us that Microsoft execs are in meetings today hammering out details of the device and developing strategies and timescales for its release,” CrunchGear wrote.

Among rumored features are that the device will use an interface similar to the current Zune player’s; that it will be able to connect with the Xbox 360; and that the Zune phone is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2007.

Verizon adds two dumbphones, too

vzw-krzr-fire-u340-official.jpg

The PN-820 is the most interesting of Big Red’s latest batch, but we’ve got a couple new arrivals to talk about on the low end as well. The MOTOKRZR K1m Fire is purty much like any other K1m, with the exception of a gloss red shell — just in time for Valentine’s Day — which can be added to the pocket or gift box of your choice for $100 on a two-year agreement after discount. The Samsung SCH-U340 shores up Verizon’s already well-stocked low end with a VGA cam, speakerphone, and not bloody much else for the attractive price of “free” after all the discounts have been applied and you’ve signed on the dotted line.
