While we’re all still waiting for the Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, Sony has gone ahead to announce the 8GB version of the PRO Duo at this year’s CES.
Users can expect to store 3,000 10-megapixel images in standard mode; more than 19 hours of video at 768Kb per second in MPEG-4 compression; and approximately 2,000 songs in MP3 format at 128kbps at an average of 4 minutes per song, according to Sony.
This 8GB card will be compatible with all Sony Cyber-shots, Handycams and VAIOs launched this year, as well as the Alpha 100 dSLR. Older VAIO products, PlayStation Portables (system software version 2.81 and later) and the Memory Stick Video Recorders will, however, require a software update.

Just when you thought the Ultra Edition 11.8 was as skinny as it gets, now DoCoMo has unveiled what seems to be even slimmer. Measuring just 11.4mm thick, the N703iµ (see image) and P703iµ in its recently launched 703i series handsets claim to be the slimmest WCDMA clamshells in the world. Both models feature 1.3-megapixel cameras and microSD expansion cards slots. The N703iµ comes with an onboard music player.
Additionally, the N703iµ comes with a “Privacy Angle” function to prevent people nearby from the reading the contents on the screen, while P703iµ sports a stainless steel casing. The two phones, together with most of the other handsets in the 703i series, will be available in Japan come February, said the Japanese mobile services operator.

Don’t you love it when the rumor mill actually produces some realizable results? While just about everyone had their doubts about the so-called “Bravia phone” that was supposedly coming down the pike, it looks like Sony, er, Sony Ericsson’s SO903iTV will be the first handset to get the proper Bravia treatment. Aside from sporting a stylish red shell, landscape orientation, 3-inch widescreen display, and about every Sony-owned logo you can imagine, this mobile also gets a built-in TV tuner with “time-shift video recording.” You’ll also find a two-megapixel CMOS camera and a microSD card for loading up your media, but unfortunately for most of the world, we’ll never get to touch it. Currently, the phone is set to launch solely on Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, but given enough time, Sony might warm up to other markets in the future
