Worlds First Skype WiFi Phones


Skype, the global Internet communications company, has collaborated with hardware partners to deliver the first WiFi phones for Skype software, enabling consumers to make Internet calls sans computer.
Stefan Oberg, general manager - Hardware, Skype said “We want to give people the freedom to move around while talking and have access to Skype wherever they are, whether in front of a computer or while moving around the home or office. Now people can make wireless Internet calls and enjoy the great Skype cost savings and sound quality free of a computer.”

Ayio Swaami - Tamil on mobiles to be standardized

The usage of Tamil over mobile phones is expected to be standardized, with mobile computing experts reportedly planning to submit a proposal to the Tamil Nadu government.

At the recently held “National Conference on Mobile Computing - Localization and Standardization” in Chennai, the organizers said that 50 percent of Mobile Phone users in Tamil Nadu could not use English-based applications such as SMS, and other value-added services (VAS).
